DEBUT GIG - COURTHOUSE, HUDDERSFIELD (24/07/97)

Well, the Sisters of *Murphy* did indeed play Huddersfield last night. And considering it was there first gig, they were good facsimile of a certain well known beat combo (down to the sound problems and the wrong lyrics ;). The singer had even gone to the trouble of having all his chest removed to be closer to the real thing.
All in all, a bloody good crack. Law suites allowing, they should be playing again soon in the Yorkshire area. If you can't afford a ticket for a real SoM gig, check out these blatant rip-offs. They do a mean Anaconda (Ade might even prefer it :)

I agree I enjoyed them, The singer bloke goes for The Andy 84-85 look, and does a good emulation of vons vocal style of that era. They do also do a top 1969, and the opening first last and always was shockingly good.
Well worth watching, and done with a definate sense of humour. The singer (Dave) did look very much the part, except he wasn't perminantly drawing on a marlboro. When offered one I believe he uttered 'i don't smoke' but preceeded to wave the cigarette around during subsiquent numbers....
A top way to spend your birthday, especially when you get a dedication!
